ARDA Trains 100 Youths On Use Of Social Media

Maximum utilization of the social media in curtailing the menace of fake news, hate speech and other conflicts, has been described as a major tool in promoting peace in the society.

The programme officer of a Non Governmetal Organization, African Radio Drama Association (ARDA) Priscilla Fiberesima stated this during a training session Organized by the NGO for youths as part of measures to promote peace and Stability in the Country.

Priscilla Fiberisema said the purpose of the training was to develop the Ability of youths in Kano to resist manipulations through Fake news and hate Speech on Social media by enlightening them on how to verify information in the social media.

“This training is about building capacity of youths to resist manipulations through fake news ,hate speech which are not true, so we are trying to build their capacity on how to identify what is true and what is not”

The Programme Officer explained that ARDA was working tirelessly in communities through building capacity of women and youths geared towards propagating peace and harmony..

“This training is taking place in six states, Kano,Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi and Benue States”

She also said that youths can utilize the social media in showcasing there businesses hence the training also focused on techniques of Marketing Apportunities on the Social media.

A participant Binta Gambo from farawa Community said she had been enlightened on how to identify fake news on the social Media,she applauded the foresight of ARDA for organising the training.
