Agricultural Produce Sellers Association of Nigeria, APSAN has called on the Federal Government to address the issue of multiple taxation and Levies on agricultural produce in the country.
The National President of APSAN, Comrade Aloys Akortsaha made the call during a visit to the Public Complaint Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Comrade Akortsaha who explained that the issue of multiple taxation was impacting negatively on the nation’s economy, urged the ombudsman to compel agencies concerned to stop the act.
The Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaint Commission, Mr Chille Igbawua stressed that if the taxes were truly multiple as claimed, it would amount to administrative injustice.
He promised to look into the issue and interface with the joint tax board for appropriate measures to be taken.
Mr Igbawua maintained that tax laws were not to inflict pains on citizens but for economic growth and development.
