The Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, Dr Salihu Lukman has advised Nigerians to desist from inciting ethnic agitations for peaceful co-existence in the country.
He gave the advice in a statement in Abuja while reacting to the recent crisis in Ibadan, Oyo State between Hausa tomato sellers and a Yoruba woman which claimed a life and destroyed property.
The statement challenged political leaders to rise to their responsibilities in promoting issues for national cohesion .
It expresses fear that the level of intolerance among the political elite may worsen as the 2023 general election approaches.
The statement also stresses that the level of intolerance among ethnic groups calls for caution.
It further advises the APC Caretaker National Committee to organize an emergency meeting on ways to sustain peaceful co-existence in the country as contained in the party’s constitution.
