Residents of Anambra State have been urged to be calm amidst recent restrictions on food supply from the North to the South.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba gave the advice while briefing newsmen in Awka.

According to Mr Onukwuba, the State Government had initiated measures for free flow of food stuff in the State.

He expressed optimism that before the week runs out, normalcy would return as the State and the Federal Government as well as northern farmers are working tirelessly to ensure adequate food supply.

The Commissioner, while assuring Anambra residents of all-round food sufficiency noted that the current development was an eye-opener for all southern states to borrow the strategic agricultural revolution of Governor Willie Obiano to meet the needs of the people.

“The Obiano’s government had over the years made efforts to boost the State’s agricultural output” he added.

He said the State Government had equally mapped out plans for youth inclusiveness in agriculture, training and retraining of farmers for increased production in all aspects of agriculture.

He therefore appreciated Chief Willie Obiano for his transformational agenda in the agricultural sector which also boosted the economy.
