The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila says the House is set for the electronic conduct of its legislative activities on the floor of the chamber when it reconvenes next week.
He stated this during an inspection of the newly installed digital system in the house of representatives Chamber.
The Speaker who regretted that over time, legislative activities were often hindered by obsolete facilities in the Chamber said upgrading of the entire system now puts the country at par with other developed Nations.
According to him, the new system would enhance the capacity and capability of lawmakers in carrying out their constitutional duties on the floor, adding that the successful execution of the project was only possible through l persistence, hard work and total commitment.
Explaining how the system works, Gbajabiamila said each lawmaker will be able to access the constitution, carry out spontaneous research on issues being deliberated on and also cast their Votes on bills and motions electronically.
The Speaker added that the project which was made possible by the Corporate Social Responsibility support from Mr.Wale Ajisebutu of 21st Century Technology Limited was a fulfilment of one of the Promises made by the 9th House during its inauguration in June last year…….
