Aliyu Hails Appointment Of 1st Indegenous VC, Fed Uni Lokoja

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has hailed the appointment of Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, as the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University- Lokoja.

This is contained in a statement issued by her S.A Media, Mr Austine Elemue in Abuja.

The statement notes that the appointment was indeed a testament of Akinwumi’s legendary scholarship in African History.

The statement also commends the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for the role played in appointing Akinwumi as the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja.

It describes the appointment of Akinwumi as a blessing to the State, stressing that the erudite scholar who was until his appointment a Professor of African History and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Nassarawa State University- Keffi, will bring to bear his wealth of academic and administrative experiences in charting a new course for the Institution.

According to the statement, Akinwumi’s quest for knowledge and perfection would be an added advantage to the University.

The statement while congratulating the people of Kogi State over the appointment, however called on the University Community to rise up to the occasion by dedicating themselves to turn around the fortunes of the Institution .
