AJAOKUTA: HOUSE COMMITTEE ON STEEL VISITS KOGI

The House of Representatives has restated its commitment towards ensuring the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company and the National Iron Ore Mining Corporation Itakpe in Kogi State for the nation’s industrialization.

Chairman, House Committee on Steel Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim stated this when he led members of the Committee on a visit to the Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello at the Government House, Lokoja.

Alhaji Ibrahim who emphasised the importance of steel development to Nigeria’s industrialization said they were on an assessment visit of the two companies to enable parliament assist the Executive arm make the right decisions on the companies.

The House Committee Chairman on Steel Development reiterated that the legislators would ensure that the nation achieve the envisaged industrialization.

In a remark, Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello noted that the Buhari led Government had shown commitment in making the companies operational and expressed hope that the processes would intensify as the international air blockade eases.

Represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, Governor Bello stressed that revival of the companies would revolutionise industrial activities in Nigeria, generate thousands of jobs as well as boost the economy.

Earlier, Sole Administrator, Ajaokuta Steel Company, Abdul Akaba Sumaila who stressed that the Steel Company could still be operational added that it shoud be modernised for optimal performance.
