Airport Road Clean Up: FCTA Demolishes Fulani Settlement, Other illegal structures

The Federal Capital Territory Administration,  (FCTA ) through its Joint Task Force has demolished a Fulani Ruga settlement located very close to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

illegal structures considered to be a form of encroachment within the Army and Police estates along the Airport road, drug market in car wash Lugbe were also demolished. 

Chairman , FCT Ministerial Committee on City Sanitation, Comrade Ikharo Attah, said the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello is not comfortable with incessant contraventions along the road corridors.

Attah explained that the Airport road was a major gateway to the city centre , hence could not be left in the hands of unauthorized persons to deface.

Comrade Attah noted that the FCT Minister had in the last two months engaged key stakeholders, and held consultationz with residents and community leaders to sensitize them on the need to address issues of contraventions in the affected areas.

Attah said,  “two months ago the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello visited the in-bound and out-bound of the Airport road with key stakeholders and showed us several contravention and gave a matching order that the contraventions be removed. Since then we have been collaborating with district heads of the affected areas, giving them notices and warnings…but there is no compliance Attah Said.
