A Coalition of Abuja Indigenous Organizations under the auspices of the Abuja Grassroots Project has called on the FCT Administration to ensure urgent formation of a Panel of Enquiry on issues that emanated from the EndSARS protest in the Territory last year.
The Executive Director, Abuja Grassroots Project, Comrade Yunusa Yusuf made the call while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
Comrade Yusuf expressed concern that since the Presidential directive on the constitution of panels of enquiry on the EndSARS protest since last year, nothing on the issue has been heard from the FCT Administration concerning the matter.
According to him, the setting up of the panel will further restore people’s hope on the willingness of Government to address the matter.
He said those who lost their property and loved ones rely solely on government through the panel to get justice.
Comrade Yusuf who described trust as very vital in governance therefore advised the FCT Administration to as a matter of urgency restore the trust of youths of the FCT by ensuring the day to day hearing of the panel in the interest of justice and adequate compensation for victims of the EndSARS protest in the Territory.
The Executive Director stated that the Nyourhs of Abuja are peaceful and law abiding citizens hence the need for the FCT Administration to abide by President Muhammadu Buhari’s directve on issues bothering on the EndSARS Panel Of Enquiry
He however warned that the Organization would not hesitate to embark on a peaceful protest if nothing is done on the issue.
