Ahead of school resumption on Monday next week, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB has commenced fumigation of Government Primary and Secondary Schools within the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC
Speaking during the exercise in Abuja, the Deputy Director of Environmental Health in AEPB, Mrs Kate Ogbonna explained that the move was in line with the directive of the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19.
Mrs Ogbonna said the exercise which would be carried out in about 100 schools would be extended to other areas within the suburbs.
According to her, the move became necessary to protect staff and students from contracting corona virus.
While reiterating the commitment of AEPB in the fight against COVID 19, the Deputy Director advised Principals, Head Teachers and Proprietors of Private Schools in the area to compliment the efforts of
AEPB towards combating COVID 19 in the area.
In their separate interviews, the Principal of Government Secondary School, Tundun Wada, Mr Joseph Akor and his counterparts in Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Abuja, Mr Isa Usman commended AEPB for the exercise.
According to them, they have also put in place necessary measures to curtail COVID 19 in their schools.
The Principais therefore advised parents to support the fight against corona virus by providing face masks and other safety materials for their children.
