AEPB Begins Aggressive Clean Up Along Airport Road

Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, has commenced the removal of shanties and refuse along the airport road in the Federal Capital Territory.

The exercise which commenced in Karomajiji to Kuchigoro, Alieta, Lugbe and other communities along the route.

Speaking with newsmen on the clean up in Abuja, the Director of AEPB, Doctor Hassan Abubakar said the exercise would be a continuous one.

Doctor Abubakar who expressed concern over the increasing number of shanties and indiscriminate dumping of refuse along the airport road said the exercise was to project a good image for the nation’s capital city.

According to him, AEPB is committed to maintaining a befitting capital city through sustained environmental sanitation.

The AEPB Director stated that the Board would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found littering the area and defacing the master plan of Abuja

Doctor Abubakar therefore solicited the support of District and Community Leaders along the airport road towards achieving the environmental objectives of AEPB.

This he Noted could be done by sensitizing their people on the need to keep their surroundings clean at all times.

The AEPB Director also called for the support of all stakeholders in the task of realizing the objectives of the Board.

“Dumping of refuse, building of all kinds of shanties and littering the major road that leads to the capital of any country does not speak well and pottray good image of the country, therefore we should all join hands together in building Abuja of our dream, worthy of emulation by international community” Doctor Abubakar added
