About 2000 People To Participate In This Year’s Mining Week Exhibition

The Minster of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite says the natural resources in different parts of the country will be utilised to develop the nation.

Mr. Adegbite made this known at a briefing in Abuja, ahead of the 5th Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week.

He stressed that all natural resources was exclusively for the Federal Government contrary to the belief that they were for the States.

He explained that the Mining week was established to showcase the mining value chain in Nigeria and discuss issues that would become key drivers for the Development of the industry.

Mr. Adegbite who said that in the fifties the mining sector contributed twelve percent to the nation’s GDP expressed regret that it declined when focus was shifted to the oil and gas sector.
He explained that the conference would work out modalities to reposition the sector.

“The annual gathering aims at providing support for development of the local workforce, mechanisation of the industry and facilitating dialogue between the private and public sectors across the value chain, to boost the future of mining in Nigeria through partnerships”

“With a network of industry leaders, investors, visionaries and pioneers transforming the face of mining in the country, Nigeria Mining Week is the place to be to uncover the latest projects, meet new partners and land new deals” Mr. Adegbite added.

Earlier, the President of the Miners Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Kabir Kankara who said the Mining Week is held annually to showcase and promote the nation’s mining industry added that the conference enables the nation to find solutions and close deals with one another.

The conference and exhibition is organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria and is hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in association with Clarion Events and PwC.

The 5th edition of Nigeria Mining Week will take place in a digital format for the first time.

About two thousand participants across the globe are expected to participate in the mining week
