Stakeholders in the education sector have been urged to initiate more educational programmes and competitions to reawaken reading culture in primary and secondary schools in the country.
The Director of a Non-Governmental Organisation, Zenith Competitions Mr Peter Ewhe gave the advice in Kubwa Abuja at a brainteaser for primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Ewhe who lamented the lack of interest in reading and decay in the education sector, stressed the need to put structures in place that would encourage pupils and students develop interest in reading and learning.
Some of the pupils, Janet Egbonwonu primary four, Onini Sanni primary five and Chibiyojo Oguche who took first, second and third positions expressed joy for emerging victorious.
The overall winner went home with the sum of fifty thousand naira while the first and second runner-ups had thirty and twenty thousand naira.
Over two hundred pupils from different primary schools participated in the competition.
