Ekiti Assembly Election Witnesses Low Turn Out Of Voters

There is low turn out of voters in most of the polling units as accreditation and voting are ongoing in the Ekiti state house of Assembly election across the twenty six constituencies in the state.

As at 8:30 am and unlike the presidential election, only few electorates were seen exercising their franchise in all the voting points visited while INEC officials were still waiting for voters in some areas.

Some commercial motorcyclists and tricycle operators were also seen working in the state capital, while some vehicles were also moving in some major areas like Ajilosun, Oke Ila, Ilawe road all in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

At Oke Aso, Igboaso Farmstead polling unit 003, ward 13, Ado Ekiti, INEC officials are currently waiting for voters to turn out.

The Presiding Officer said out of 288 registered voters in the unit about fifty people have come out to cast their votes as at the time of filling this report, while waiting for other legible voters.

In most of the areas visited, the INEC officials maintained that the people’s turn was very poor when compared to the presidential and National Assembly Elections .
