Over six hundred people are to benefit from a four day free eye check organized by the federal medical center, Jabi as part of activities to mark this year’s world glaucoma week.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Saad Ahmed while addressing some of the beneficiaries at a one day seminar in Jabi Abuja urged Nigerians to always go for eye check at least once a year to avoid the devastating effects of glaucoma.
Professor Saad Ahmed noted that prompt diagnosis and treatment are key in fighting the disease.
The Head of Clinical Services and an Opthalmic Surgeon, Dr Joseph Eziechila who stated that glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness enumerated some of the risk factors.
Dr Eziechila who stressed that the aim of the free eye check was part of the hospital’s commitment to nation building and service to humanity advised Nigerians to save their sight by seeking medical help.
