Kwara : JAMB Suspends CBT Accredited Registration Center

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has suspended one of its accredited Computer Based Test, CBT registration center in Ilorin, Kwara State, for failure to adhere to registration procedures by the board.

The CBT center located at Olorunsogo area of Ilorin, was suspended for not providing appropriate and sufficient cameras for capturing candidates who were registering for the ongoing 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UMTE at the centre.

The JAMB registrar, Professor Is’haq Oloyede who personally discovered the shortcoming in the registration centre, said such practice where only one camera is used to capture passport photographs of all candidates could lead to mismatch of information and passport photographs of candidates.

He therefore ordered that registration centres be suspended from further registration of candidates for the examination, until all necessary facilities needed for proper capturing of candidates passport photographs were put in place at the centre.

While adressing pressmen shortly after paying an unscheduled inspection visit to some of the registration centres, Professor Oloyede said inspection was to ensure that everything was in order for the examination and to guard innocent candidates from being exploited by registration centers.

Professor Oloyede who was accompanied on the inspection tour by officials of the Board also warned that any registration centre caught or reported to be exploiting innocent candidates would be seriously dealt with in accordance with the law.

The inspection which took off at the University of Ilorin Mini Campus CBT centre, Adewole area of ilorin also visited CBT registration centre at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Alhikma University, ilorin, Socrates College, Ilorin and some other privately owned registration centres, among which one was suspended from the exercise.
