Lawmaker Decries State Of The Nation @62

The Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Toby Okechukwu, has enjoined Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the 2023 general election to vote in leaders, who will turn the fortunes of the nation around.

The Deputy Minority Leader who gave the advice in a statement to commemorate Nigeria’s 62nd Independence anniversary, blamed the present State of the nation to poor leadership.

While congratulating Nigerians on the anniversary, Okechukwu says the nation’s challenges, though enormous, were surmountable, noting that Nigeria had occasionally wobbled in the last 62 years, but did not crack.

The lawmaker, who represents the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, expresses regret that Nigeria dashed the hope and promises she held for not only Nigerians, but also Africa and the Black race at independence.

According to Okechukwu
“Our challenges over the years; the apparent dysfunction in the economy; the absence of unity; and the sorry state of our nation are clear pointers to the fact that our lives cannot be necessarily made better by electing leaders based on ethnic, religious and political affiliations.”

He adds that the 2023 general election, therefore, presents Nigerians with a redemptive opportunity to put things right and chart a new path to unity, progress, and development by rising above primordial sentiments to vote wisely.
