NPHCDA Nabs 4 Passengers, Others For COVID-19 Vaccination Card Scam

The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency has nabbed some travellers and racketeers for fake Covid19 vaccination cards.

A statement by the Executive Director, NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib made available to newsmen in Abuja said on the 3rd of August at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), officials of the port-health service (PHS) contacted the Head of ICT, Amaka Eze to notify the Agency of a suspect with a fake covid19 vaccination card.

The four other passengers apprehended and still at the NAIA are Chinemelum Gabriel IHEJIRIKA, Evans Chukwuyem ONYIBE, Stanley Chidubem STEPHEN, and Arinzechukwu Stanley OHIRI.

“A preliminary Investigation on the matter revealed that one traveller Lawrence AIRE Esechie presented a fake covid19 vaccination card while trying to pass through the clearance process at the airport. Upon inquiry, he stated that he had gotten the card from his travel agent Akeem Adeniji.

During interrogation Loveth Mba JOHNSON admitted to having given Akeem ADENIJI the fake covid19 card after receiving the sum of N15,000 from him.

She revealed that she was also paid N10,000 to one Precious with Phone number 09033304969 who had facilitated the fake covid19 card.

Precious also operates the business center/travel agent at the same location as Loveth.

Meanwhile, all the aforementioned suspects have been profiled and documented by the DSS unit at the FCT State command of the state security service for further action.

Last year Dr. Faisal Shuaib promised to prosecute all those behind the “criminal behaviour” after investigation.

According to him, “The Department of State Services (DSS) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are collaborating with the agency to investigate such issues.

‘There is zero tolerance for these types of activities. The DSS and ICPC are involved.

” Once these individuals who are involved in this vaccination racketeering are charged to court, then, of course, the public service rules will be followed and that will lead to potential suspension and firing of these health workers.” he had promised.
