FIrst Female President Garki Rotary Club Inaugurated

Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club Garki Neighborhood, Rotarian Solomon Bala Okoh has officially handed over the mantle of leadership to the first female President of the club, Zainab Omowunmi Owonikoko, with a call on all the members to give her the needed support.

Rotarian Okoh who made the call during the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, urged the new President to ensure that priority was given to serving humanity, with a view to meeting the yearnings of the adopted communities.

Rotarian Okoh who enumerated some of the success stories recorded under his leadership, emphasized the need for robust collaboration
among members to build on the foundation already laid.

His Words:” …I had to handover the baton to the new leadership because the objectives of Rotary must go on. Our achievements in the last year are enormous… all these were made possible with collective responsibility ” Okoh said.

The District Governor of District 9125 , Dr Goddy Nnadi while decorating Rotarian Owonikoko with the symbol of authority, expressed delight that women had braced up to pick up leadership positions without fear or intimidation, congratulated the first female
Distrct Governor of District 9110 that emerged last weekend in Lagos State.

“women are taking over. History was made on Saturday when a female took over the baton of District Governor. This year is a synergy year, therefore effective synergy is what is required to do better. Going forward, monthly awards will be given to best performing fellowship ” Nnadi said.

Making her acceptance speech, the First Female Garki Rotary Club President, Zainab Omowunmi Owonikoko expressed her profound gratitude to the entire Club members for deeming her fit for the position, and pledged never to misuse the privilege given to her.

According to Owonikoko, under her leadership, delibrate efforts shall be made to increase club membership, impact communities through laudable projects and give priority attention to the Rotary club seven cardinal areas of focus.

Her words:” the seven areas of focus of our great organization is Non-negotiable.we are going to be promoting peace across our communities, fighting diseases, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, Growing local economies and protecting our environment. We shall continually monitor the Vaccination and campaigns on Polio and COVID 19…as a club, we are ready to do all that is expected “.

Highpoint of the event were words of encouragement for the Board of Directors and an induction ceremony of four new members into the club.
