SMEDAN, SEB Partner To Instill Entrepreneurial Skills In Students

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria in Collaboration with the Secondary Education Board are to empower secondary school teachers with skills to encourage entrepreneurship in students in the FCT.

At the opening of the programme in Abuja, the Director General of SMEDAN, Mr. Wale Fasanya said the initiative became necessary to prepare the teachers to be up to date with the designed manual to aid teaching of entrepreneurship courses.

Represented by a Director in the Agency Dr. Friday Opara, the Director General stressed that the programme tagged ‘MIND SHIFT National School Entrepreneurship programme would inculcate the culture of entrepreneurship as well as assist the students identify their potential early.

According to him, the MIND SHIFT programme is driven through the National School Entrepreneurship Programme N-SEP for primary, secondary and Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Development Program TINEDEP.

Mr. Fasanya explained further that “The objectives of the programme includes, to stimulate students to value enduring wealth creating possibilities and become wealth creating warriors, channel the energy of youths to positive and productive ends.”

In her remark, the Director FCT Secondary Education Board Mrs. Nanre Emeje who said the board had domesticated entrepreneurship program to enable students grow to be employers of labour said the initiative would go a long way to boost the nations economic profile.

“let me utilize this forum to inform this auspicious audience some of our efforts in the FCT to propagate and imbue in the students of our schools the skills of entrepreneurship. In fact we have come to align totally to the position that entrepreneurship development is the only hope for Nigeria in thinking of solution to suffocating unemployment situation facing the country.”

Mrs Emeje advised the participants to cascade the knowledge acquired to other students in the FCT.
