The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has given approval to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to upgrade the Nigerian Labour Exchange, NILEX, to facilitate job-seeking initiatives.
The Minister, Dr. Chris Ngige, said funds for the upgrade had already been sourced through bilateral and multilateral agreements.
He explained that consultancy services on the project would be completed in 12 weeks, saying that when operational, it will check the exploitation of job-seekers by the phony platforms that extort money from them without giving them what they want.
He said the objective was for employers to upload the vacancies available for qualified job-seekers to apply, just as diasporians would load their expertise to the portal to seek for special jobs.
The Minister said the portal would also provide a window through which employers could interact with job seekers.
