The Baptist Convention has called on political parties and presidential candidates to apply wisdom in picking running mates to avoid sidelining of certain religious groups.
The president of the FCT Baptist Conference Reverend Dogara Raphael-Gwana who made the call while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the state of the nation condemned the use of money to woo supporters during the last party primaries.
He expressed concern over the high level of corruption in the country without check from anti graft agencies which according to him posed a threat to national economic development.
Reverend Raphael-Gwana however appealed to eligible voters to avail themselves of the ongoing Voter Registration to participate fully in the 2023 general election.
On the current state of insecurity, the Baptist Conference president lamented the increasing cases of killings and abductions calling on government to take action to address the menace.
The Cleric said the ongoing attacks on religious centers with no justice on those arrested potends danger to national unity.
The Baptist Conference president also stressed the need for Nigerians to remain patriotic and obedient to constituted authorities for peace and national unity.
