The Department of State Services, DSS wants media organizations to use their platforms to promote issues of national peace and cohesion as the nation prepares for next year’s general election.
The Director Public Relations, DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya who made the call during an engagement with media professionals in Abuja advised political stakeholders not to heat up the political space but play the game by the rules.
Dr Afunanya explained that the media as key player in the Political and Democratic process must ensure the propagation of political, ethnic and religious tolerance to promote peace and unity.
While urging politicians against utterances capable of disrupting the democratic process, the DSS spokesperson advised against fake news, hate speeches and thuggery.
Dr Afunanya who also said the meeting was in continuation of engagement with critical stakeholders, maintained that the service would continue to collaborate with groups and individuals for useful information and issues that would enhance national peace, unity and development.
