DRTS Commences Special Operations To End Traffic Gridlock

The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Directorate of Road Traffic Services in collaboration with other agencies have commenced special operations to end traffic gridlock in the territory.

Speaking with Journalists in Abuja, the Director, FCTA Directorate of Road Traffic Services, Dr Abdulateef Bello said the Special operation entails posting of 
special enforcement squad in troubled spots during the peak hours.

He added that the operations that commenced at the popular  Area one Bridge will also be extended to other strategic locations of the territory, with intensive security coverage provided by the Command and Control Centre. 

Dr Bello who blamed the troubling traffic challenges in Abuja on the growing population called on motorists and residents to be law-abiding and respect extant traffic rules, adding that more motor parks will be created when the need arises.

Also speaking, the  Secretary of FCTA Command and Control Unit, Peter Olumuji noted that the Centre had to get involved by providing security cover to avoid traffic officers being attacked or molested by motorists.
