IPAC Seeks Extension Of Party Primares By 2 Months

The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to extend the deadline for the conduct of party primaries by two months

The Chairman, IPAC, Alhaji Sani Yabaji made the appeal during INEC’s quarterly meeting with political parties in Abuja.

Alhaji Yabaji said the call for the extension became necessary as most political parties could not meet the current deadline due to various challenges and factors beyond control.

According to him, the extension will enable the parties conform in totality with all necessary guidelines as laid down by INEC.

Earlier, INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu urged political parties to adhere strictly to the time table and schedule of activities for the 2023 general election

Processor Yakubu maintained that that any extension would not only disrupt activities ahead of the 2023 elections but also invalidate some of the work the commission had already put in place to ensure a successful process.

INEC Chairman stressed the need for political parties to carry all members along in all electoral processes to avoid unnecessary litigations
