FRSC Adopts Measures To Curb Road Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has commenced a Special Intervention Patrol and Inter Joint Command Patrol to check increasing number of road accidents in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Zonal Commanding Officer incharge of FCT and Niger State Assistant Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed while addressing officers and Men of FRSC at the commencement of the Operations along Kubwa-Zuba Express way in Abuja said there would be strict enforcement to ensure compliance with traffic rules.

Mr Mohammed stressed that motorists who engage in overloading, and overspeeding, and vehicles without number plates and speed limit device would face the wrath of the law.

According to the Zonal Commanding Officer, all the unit Commands in the FCT will work together to cover up some identified routes that usually experience road crashes.

He emphasized that the Zone had strengthened its operations and improved on response time by the Zebra points for prompt Intervention during emergencies.

Mr Mohammed explained that there would be aggressive public enlightenment, rallies and advocacy visits to motor parks, religious centers and public places to raise awareness on the need to support efforts at checking the excesses of motorists in the Zone.

The FRSC Boss however appealed to road users to change their attitude and complement Government’s huge investment in road rehabilitation and construction for economic development of the Territory.

Members of the FCT FRSC Special Marshal team would be involved in the Special Operation that will last till November this year.
