Road Safety : FRSC Introduces Special Intervention Patrol

The Federal Road Safety Commission is introducing a Special Intervention Patrol and Inter Command Joint Patrol to address increasing number of road accidents in the Federal Capital Territory.

The FRSC New Zonal Commanding officer incharge of FCT and Niger State, Assistant Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed who stated this at a news conference in Abuja said FCT was among the Sector Commands in the country with the highest number of road accidents in the year 2021.

Assistant Corps Marshal Mohammed explained that the Two Sector Commands under his control would embark on robust public enlightenment along critical corridors and improve on response time by the Zebra Emergency Points as well as strengthening its engagement with Transport Union Leaders to ensure Sanity on the Highway.

The Zonal Commanding officer while reiterating the Commission’s readiness to ensure strict enforcement of traffic regulations and prosecute traffic offenders appealed to road users to desist from one way driving, overspeeding and overloading.

Assistant Corps Marshal Mohammed expressed the believe that the Three Point Agenda would reposition road safety management and traffic administration in Abuja Zonal Command.

The FRSC Boss urged road users particularly commercial drivers to give maximum cooperation to the FRSC towards achieving the United Nations Decade of Action On Road Safety.
