The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has inaugurated projects and flagged off an empowerment programme in Abaji Area Council of the Territory.

Inaugurating the projects, the minister said the governance mandate of the All Progressives Congress requires the FCT Administration to add value to the lives of residents especially those in rural communities.
Dr Aliyu, therefore, commended the chairman of Abaji Area Council for empowering numerous citizens of the council through the distribution of motor cycles and speed boats to Kurege, Maniogi and Alu communities, purchase of irrigation pumping machines to farmers, and distribution of grinding machines to women, amongst other empowerment schemes.
Dr Aliyu assured that the Administration would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that the less privileged were empowered.
“To this end, we have strengthened our leading skills development agency, the Abuja Enterprise Agency, while our Youth Centre in Nyanya has been upgraded for skill acquisition training.
“We have also continued to offer free training for artisans and craftsmen towards building their capacity to innovate and also promoted the ease of doing business.”
The minister called on residents of benefiting communities to justify government’s investment in their communities by ensuring proper maintenance of the projects for overall development of the area.
In his remarks, Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Abdulrahman Ajiya, acknowledged the role played by the FCT Minister of State during the zero allocation to area councils, stressing that the minister’s efforts facilitated the empowerment programmes.
Ajiya revealed that as part of efforts to curb social vices in the area council, the administration empowered about 1,000 youths and women in various skills acquisition, adding that the administration was able to execute these projects with the support of the FCT Administration.
Projects inaugurated include the Abaji Police Area Command office, 0.5km market junction road, 0.45km road along Baba Mai Lema, ongoing 1.2km road, Pipeline – Agyana road amongst others.
