Forum of former members of the House of Representatives of the All Progressives Congress has called on leadership of the party to ensure sustainability of internal democracy as the national convention approaches.
This is contained in a communique by the acting chairman of the forum, Mr Ibrahim Zailani after a roundtable in Abuja.
According to the forum upholding internal democractic principles will promote unity for progress of the party.
It condemns the current wave of forceful removal of democratically elected governments in some West African countries stressing that the forum remains committed in deepening democracy in Nigeria and other West African countries.
The Forum which commends the Federal Government for efforts in tackling insecurity, the economy and corruption urges it to do more to enhance peace and development of the country.
The Former House of Representatives members called on delegates of the National convention scheduled for this month to vote wisely and ensure that credible and visionary party leaders are elected to pilot affairs of the party.
The event was attended by former APC House of Representatives members across the country including those that served in the second and third Republic.
