The House of Representatives has mandated the Inspector General of Police to investigate the kidnap of a traditional ruler in Plateau State.
This followed the adoption of the resolutions of a motion sponsored by Bagos Dachung from Plateau State under matters of urgent national importance at plenary.
In his lead debate, the lawmaker said the trend of insecurity, kidnapping and payment of huge ransom to secure the release of victims has become a nightmare to Nigerians across the country.
According to him kidnapping has become incessant especially in Jos South and Jos East Federal Constituency of Plateau State with two traditional rulers kidnapped within two months.
Bagos who expressed concern that traditional rulers have become targets of kidnappers stressed the need to deploy adequate technology to help secure the release of these victims and prevent future occurences.
The motion called for the installation of street lights and surveillance cameras in Federal Government institutions to prevent further abductions.
The House also mandated the IG to equip community police with necessary gadgets to enhance communication amongst the officers for effective service delivery.
