President Muhammadu Buhari has led top government officials, service Chiefs and a member representing the diplomatic corps to lay wreath at the National Arcade in honour of the nation’s fallen heroes.
The Wreath Laying was the Climax of activities lined up to commemorate this year’s Armed Forces Rememberance Day Ceremony in Abuja.
Buhari arrived the National Arcade at the Eagle Square venue of the wreath laying at exactly 10:00 am in company of the Bag pipers of the Guards Brigade and proceeded to exchange pleasantaries with the Vice President and other dignataries.
He then took the national salute followed by the inspection of Guards on parade.
The Reverse Arms and last post by the firing party was then observed as all dignitaries stood in respect of the sacrifice by serving and the fallen heroes
A special prayer session for the president, members of the Armed Forces and families of the fallen heroes and the country as a whole by the Acting Director Chaplain Services Roman Catholic, Colonel Anthony Maimagani.
The Director, Islamic Affairs Group Captain Taofik Gidado and Chaplain Protestant Services, Air Commodore Dogo Bari.
A minute silence was then observed for the fallen heroes, followed by the Artillery Gun Salute.

The firing of the three volleys and reveille by the firing party followed closely as the occasion came to a close with the signing of the Armed Forces Rememberance Day Anniversary Register and the release of pigeons which signifies peace by President Muhammadu Buhari
