Cleric Wants Christians To Live Holy Lives As Exemplified By Jesus

The Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Life Camp Abuja, Reverend Father Anthony Olaniyan, has described the baptism of Jesus as a very important event in christen dom.

In his sermon, Rev Father Olaniyan explained that Jesus received the baptism of repentance to identify with his people who realized for the first time that they were sinners.

He said it was a moment of conviction about Jesus’ identity and mission which was to preach the Good News of God’s love and salvation and to atone for the sins of mankind.

Rev Father Olaniyan therefore stressed the need for Christians to embrace love, humility and  live holy and transparent Christian lives.

The cleric also explained that the Holy Spirit, descending and resting upon Jesus in the form of a dove, bestowed on Jesus the power to preach and heal.

According to him, by baptism we become sons and daughters of God, brothers and sisters of Jesus, members of his Church, heirs of heaven, and temples of the Holy Spirit.
