FCTA Clears 2018 Promotion Arrears Of Teachers

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, FCT Wing, Dr. Stephen Knabayi says the FCT Administration has paid the promotion arrears of teachers after months of persistent demand.

Dr. Knabayi made this known in an interview in Abuja.

The Chairman said the meeting was tough and extensive, but at the end, the union succeeded as its demand was met and the arrears paid on Thursday, 6th January, 2022.

Dr Knabayi also stressed that the arrears was for 2018.

According to him, “The union had a closed door meeting with the Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, that lasted for several hours, and the union insisted, demanding for the promotion arrears, it was eventually paid”.

He explained that the payment made now was for secondary school teachers while that of teachers in primary schools was still being negotiated with the Council Chairmen .
