NiMet Envisages Temperature Rise In Some States

The Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has predicted high temperatures more than 40°C in the next two days in Parts of Niger and Kwara states

A statement signed by the Director General of NiMet, Professor Mansur Bako Matazu says Parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba will record temperatures between 35°C and 40°C.

According to the statement the same is expected over parts of Niger, Kwara, Kogi, FCT, Nasarawa, Benue and Kogi states.

It adds that the south except Lagos, Ekiti and Ondo states are expected to have similar temperature range.

The statement therefore advises Nigerians to
drink of plenty water to prevent dehydration, avoid leaving humans or animals in the car, especially young children, stay in the shade,
wear light and bright clothing and avoid wearing dark colours.
