FCT Health Secretary Woos Traditional leaders On COVID-19 Vaccination

The Secretary, FCT Health And Human Services Secretariat, Dr Tafida Abubakar has taken the campaign on COVID 19 Vaccination to the Palaces of some traditional rulers of the FCT.

Dr. Tafida who led the top management team of FCT to the Palace of the Ona of Abaji, said the tour was aimed at carrying the traditional rulers along in the fight against COVID 19, to enable them sensitise their communities and followers.

Dr Tafida therefore charged the traditional rulers of the FCT to join him in taking the message to the grass root through the traditional institution and structures.

Dr Abubakar said that the Federal Government of Nigeria has made the vaccines available for people to access in order to effectively contain and control this deadly disease.

He called on residents to get vaccinated to ensure they are fully protected including getting the booster doses for stronger immunity.

The Secretary was emphatic that there was need to the usage of non pharmaceutical protocols, wearing face masks, hand washing/use of sanitizers, observing physical distancing and avoidance of crowed places .

According to Dr Tafida,” the role of the traditional rulers in reaching out to the people cannot be overemphasized, that is why the Health Secretariat is soliciting the support of the royal fathers…the vaccine is free and safe for protection against the deadly virus.” Tafida said.

Earlier the Ona of Abaji HRM Alhaji (Dr) Adamu Baba Yunusa congratulated the Secretary on his appointment and charged him to continue to reach out to people at the grass root in all his programs because they are the majority and are the ones in dire need of such interventions.

The Ona of Abaji commended the FCT Health Secretariat for partnering with the traditional leaders to successfully mobilize people at the grassroots.

Also, at a visit to the Palace of Agara of Jiwa community, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Idris Musa promised to work hand in hand with the health team to ensure his people are all vaccinated.
