CROSSOVER NIGHT : FCTA Recommends 50% Capacity For Churches

By Remi Johnson

The Federal Capital Territory Administration ( FCTA) has warned that all religious and social gatherings be limited to 50% of the hall’s capacity to prevent further spread of Corona Virus in the nation’s capital.

The Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, MI&E, Comrade Ikharo Attah who gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said the measure became necessary in view of the increasing cases of COVID 19 recorded in the last few days in the territory.

Comrade Attah explained that the FCT Administration would not fold its arms and watch some people violate the COVID19 protocols at the detriment of the general public.

He urged worship centres planning an elaborate new year Eve to adhere strictly to the preventive guidelines issued by the FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat last week

Comrade Attah also maintained that the restriction on nightclubs and other social gatherings where physical distancing and non pharmaceutical protocols can not be achieved, remained banned.

“26th December alone the city recorded an alarmingly disturbing 806 New cases, while on the 27th the new cases were 57… the report on Tuesday 28th December, that 80 new cases were recorded in the nation’s capital, was not a cheering news…” Attah said

The MI&E Boss also hinted that the FCT Minister had met with religious leaders and other stakeholders towards ensuring that Abuja is safe.
