Refusal Of Assent Of Electoral Act By President Buhari Will Weaken Electoral System – CUPP

The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, says the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the electoral act amendment bill will weaken the nation’s electoral system.

This is contained in a statement signed by the National Secretary of CUPP, Chief Peter Ameh in Abuja.

It says the action will not augur well for the country as the Electoral System needs to be strenghened to deepen democracy.

According to the statement the Electoral Act is a superior piece of legislation and should have the necessary authority to render the provision(s) of the Party constitution Inferior.

“If any law exist and it is inconsistent with any law validly made by the National Assembly, the Law made by the National Assembly will prevail and that other law shall to the extent of it’s inconsistency be void”.
