The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Muazu Sambo Jaji as ministerial designate after scaling the screening hurdles on the floor of the upper chamber.
President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier nominated Mr Muazu Jaji as a ministerial nominee from Taraba State.
Mr Jaji is to replace the former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, who was relieved of his appointment in September, along with Sabo Nanono, the former Agriculture Minister.
Mr Jaji while fieding questions from lawmakers during his screening on the floor of the Senate expressed disappointment over the state of the Mambila Power Project which he described as an embarrassment to the country.
He attributed the major constraint of the project to the arbitration case against the federal government in Paris.
He also stressed the need to compensate the company that took Nigeria to court for the project to fully kick off for the benefit of Nigerians.
He however vowed that if confirmed he would fix the challenges of the Mambila Power Project within one year.
Responding to questions on housing deficit, he urged the federal government to partner the private sector to be able to build mass housing for Nigerians as government alone cannot do it.
