FRSC, Relevant Agencies To Work On Prompt Rescue Operations During Emergencies

The Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC is working with relevant government agencies for prompt rescue operations and removal of obstruction during the end of the year exercise.

The Corps Marshal of FRSC Dr Boboye Oyeyemi who stated this in Abuja during a stimulation to improve on personnel preparedness and strengthen inter agency collaboration said FRSC personnel have been adequately trained to carry out robust rescue operations during emergencies.

Represented by the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Federal Operations Mr Goke Adetunji, the Corps Marshal maintained that FRSC special operation center in Abuja would be available twenty four hours to receive and disseminate information to road users across the country.

The FRSC Corps Marshal however urged road users particularly commercial drivers to always ensure that their vehicles were in order before embarking on any journey.

The Zonal Commanding officer in charge of FCT and Niger State Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu appealed to motorcycle and Tricycle Operators to keep only to the approved areas and avoid operating on the highways.

Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu warned motorists against intake of alcoholic beverages, reckless driving and over loading as personnel would not spare any driver that flouts traffic rules.

FCT Sector Commander Mr Ochi Oga reiterated the readiness of the FRSC to ensure safety of road users and urged them to call Toll Free Number 122 for prompt intervention during emergencies.

Mr Oga stressed that body cameras would be deployed to monitor the activities of motorists and the personnel.

Representatives of the National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Road Traffic Service and other agencies pledged their total support to efforts of making road safer during and after Ember Months Operation.
