The New Secretary for Federal Capital Territory Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) Malam Abubakar Ibrahim has promised to support youths to go into modern farming for a sustainable agricultural practices.
Malam Abubakar Ibrahim stated this during the 13th graduation ceremony of Leventis Foundation (Nig.) FCT Agriculture School in Yaba.
Malam Ibrahim said the Administration would continue to make efforts to redirect the energies of the teeming population into the Agricultural sector towards creating more jobs to make youths self reliant.
According to him, provision would be made for the 2021 trainees to get their starter packs soon adding that FCTA
would keep to its obligation of paying the counterpart funding to sustain Agro activities in the territory.
According to him, agricultural activities deserves better attention more than ever before to cushion the negative impact of the COVID-19 in the sector.
“There is no denying the fact that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about some setbacks but we will continue” he said.
In her remarks, the Principal Leventis Foundation (Nig.) FCT Agriculture School, Mrs Agnes Yusuf who said 792 had so far benefitted from free training since 2008, noted that a total of 62 youths comprising 19 females and 43 males have successfully graduated from the school this year.
