NCPWD To Convene Summit To Address Challenges Of Disability Community

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities NCPWD, is to convene a National Disability Summit as part of activities to commemorate International Day for Disabilities and advance the course of the Disability community.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission Mr James Lalu who made this known during a news conference in Abuja, said the Summit would gather stakeholders to brainstorm and produce workable document for the Disability Community.

Mr Lalu explained that the commission had produced a policy document to address accessibility challenges for persons with disabilities.

The Executive Secretary pointed out that the commission in partnership with the Nigeria Association of the Deaf had produced Nigerian sign language dictionary to enhance communication among the deaf.

Mr Lalu added that the commission is working with various government and private institutions to ensure the implementation of the rights of persons with Disabilities.
