Space Science Technology and Innovation has been identified as an essential tool in enhancing human security.
The Commandant, National Defence College, Rear Admiral Oladele Bamidele Daji, stated this at the 2021 Space Dialogue/National Media Conference On Space Science Technology and Innovation in Abuja.
In a keynote address entitled “Maximizing Space Science Technology And Innovation For Enhanced Human Security In Post COVID-19 Era” the Commandant, Rear Admiral Daji, noted that, it had become imperative to harness all Space Science Technology and Innovation platforms to enhance the quality of life of Nigerians.
The Commandant attributed some of the challenges of Space Science Technology and Innovation for Enhanced Human Security in the Post COVID-19 to low financial investment, while encouraging nations to spare no efforts in committing resources to the development of the sector.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, represented by the Minister of State for Science And Technology, Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi, emphasized that Science and Technology remained a viable option for development in the Post COVID-19 era.
The Director General NASRDA, and Head Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Halilu Shaba and Dr. Felix Ale, stressed that NASRDA was committed to it’s mandate and was on the right path towards achieving Its objectives of the 25-year roadmap as approved by the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
They called on the media to continue to beam the searchlight on the effectiveness of the Space Science Technology And Innovation and how it can be utilized in achieving set goals especially in the Post Covid-19 Era.
The Special Guest of Honor, the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, was of the opinion that partnerships between public and private sector in Space Science and technology innovation would produce more results.
The Governor was also decorated with the award of Space Ambassador.
The Space 2021 Dialogue National Conference with the theme; “Effective Utilization, Promotion And Reporting of Space Science, Technology And Innovations In Post COVID-19 Era” was organized by the National Space Research And Development Agency, NASRDA, to present it’s scorecard and activities to stakeholders and the general public.
