Stakeholders Urged To Address Drug Abuse Rate In Schools

Stakeholders in the fight against drugs and substance abuse have called on youths especially students to stay away from drugs to safeguard their future.

They made the call at a sensitization campaign for students of the Command Day Secondary School, Lungi Barracks, Abuja.

The sensitization campaign was part of efforts to enlighten the students who are mostly from the barracks community on the effects of drugs to their socio-economic development.

The guest speaker Superintendent of Narcotics, Directorate of Drug Demand Reduction, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Owunubi Gbenga who noted that drugs have negative effects, called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to address the increasing rate of drug abuse in schools.

The Organiser and Coordinator The Support Nest Initiative, Mrs Bukola Ugbuji explained that the issue of drug abuse was a great challenge in the society, she urged youths especially students to always say no to drugs.

One of the Facilitators Mrs Jummai Manson advised parents and caregivers to join in the sensitization campaign for a drug free Society.

Some of the students pledged to be at the vanguard on the campaign against drug Abuse.
