Federal Capital Territory Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has charged the newly appointed Mandate Secretaries and Aides to hit the ground running on infrastructural development, and deliver power back to the All Progressive Congress (APC) by 2023.
The Minister stated this during the Oath taking and Swearing in ceremony of the new appointees in Abuja.
He congratulated the new appointees and tasked them to carry on their mandates devoid of corruption, as anyone found wanting in any corrupt act would not go unpunished.
Malam Bello who reminded the appointees that their track records and antecedents of good leadership prowess earned them the appointments, urged them to get acquainted with the nitty gritty of public service guidelines.
According to the FCT Minister, synergy among sisters agencies, adoption of innovative strategies, particularly in the area of urban renewal plan, public transportation, traffic light among others, as well as increased budgetary allocation for the running of the FCT, would go a long way in turning the city of Abuja around in addressing overstretched facilities for the overall good of all residents.
“This population growth naturally drives up demands for educational, health, transportation, waste management, security and housing services.
“Mandate Secretaries and other relevant appointees must therefore immediately key into ongoing activities within their jurisdiction and help drive it further with more purpose … all Secretaries and heads of relevant Agencies and Departments must key into our urban renewal agenda with the restoration of provisions of the Abuja Masterplan, waste management, city cleanliness and environmental protection”, Bello said.
Malam Bello further lauded the stride of President Buhari, on completion of abandoned projects, and promised to continue to strengthen institutions in Abuja for effective service delivery.
The newly appointed Executive Secretary Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Shehu Hadi pledged to put in his best for the service of humanity and God’s glory.
A Journalist, appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah, thanked the FCT Administration for finding him worthy for this onerous assignment.
“Coming from the pen profession, one thing that is very germaine, is to make fundamental appeal to residents of FCT to pls ensure they comply with the Urban and Regional Planning act, and environmental act, so that we in the enforcement component will not have to start running into each other. We will be more tougher because we need to own our city ” Attah explained.
Comrade Attah expressed optimism that building the Abuja of our dream is possible with the cooperation of all citizens.
