The Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC has commenced a Special Operation to check the excesses of Courier service motorcycle riders causing obstruction to pedestrians and person with disabilities in the Federal Capital Territory.

FCT Sector Commander of FRSC Mr Oga Ochi Who stated this while addressing news men in Abuja said operators of these service providers were misusing the provision made by the Government for free flow of traffic.

Mr Ochi said Sixteen riders fond of blocking ways for pedestrians to cross major routes and those making it difficult for persons with disabilities to cross highways in the FCT have been arrested and their motorcycles impounded.

According to him, most of these riiders do not have necessary particulars permitting them to operate in the territory.

Mr Ochi maintained that motorists particularly commercial drivers should avoid reckless driving at some ongoing construction sites stressing that about 3,000 personnel had been deployed while all the 12 Zebra point’s in the FCT would be in Operations to attend to emergency cases during the Ember Months Operation..

The FCT Sector Commander therefore appealed to motorists to avoid one way driving, use of phone, overloading, over speeding and beating of traffic traffic lights as mobile courts would be in session to prosecute traffic offenders.
