Cancer Awareness: Kebbi Gov’s Wife Seeks Improved Healthcare For Less Privileged

The Wife of Kebbi State governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu has called on policy makers to promote policies that would improve healthcare delivery for the less privileged in the country.

Dr. Bagudu made the call at a prostate cancer awareness campaign tagged  ‘Art4Cancer‘ in Abuja.

The awareness campaign organised in collaboration with other stakeholders aimed at enlightening the public on the need to desist from act that could lead to deadly ailments such as prostate cancer.

Dr. Bagudu who lamented the high cost of cancer treatment urged government to channel taxes from toxic and harmful substance to service healthcare delivery at the community level.

She observed that early detection of the disease would go along way to save lives and reduce cancer patients in the country particularly prostate cancer.

In a presentation, Mrs. Hadiza Arome of Medicaid foundation explained that prostate cancer was the third leading prevalent form of cancer in Nigeria with over thirteen thousand new cases annually.

She called for private public partnership to create more awareness for  prompt response in the detection and cure of the  disease.

A representative of Development Partner, Mrs. Ukeli Idohasa pledged her organisation’s commitment to partner  individuals or group willing to alleviate the plights of the less privileged in the society.

Highpoint of the event was fund raising for indigent prostrate cancer patients in the country.
