House Of Reps Urge Security Agencies To Intensify Efforts In Fight Against Insecurity

The House of Representatives has urged Security Agencies to intensify efforts to bring an end to the incessant abductions of citizens and banditary attacks on highways in the country.

This is the resolution of a motion on the urgent need to tackle the incessant spate of kidnappings and banditry on the Abuja-Kaduna highway sponsored by Abubakar Nalaraba from Nassarawa State.

In his lead debate, the lawmaker stated that the increasing spate of attacks on travellers plying the highway has become worrisome and alarming.

He further expressed concern at the high rate of fear and anxiety suffered by Nigerians in their bid to exercise their right of movement for their socio-economic upkeep.

In his submission Nicholas Ossai from Delta State expressed worry over the spate of insecuruty in the country despite the huge funds appropriated for the fight against insecurity.

The motion was thereafter amended to mandate relevant committees of the House on Security to ensure regular briefing to the principal officers and the general House to enable the lawmakers proffer a lasting solution to the security challenges
